Experienced Steel Estimator

Estimator needed for AISC-certified steel erector, and structural/ miscellaneous steel fabrication company.
 
Details: The following job position involves interaction with both customers and potential customers, therefore professionalism is mandatory. Candidates must be highly motivated and dedicated to precision in his/her work. This should be seen in his/her ability to identify jobs to bid, craft proposals, and minimize risks associated with incoming work.
Also, the candidate must exercise good judgment and experience in working with purchasing, steel erection and/or fabrication labor, equipment and transportation costs to arrive at a full cost estimate with appropriate profit margins to achieve the company’s goals.
He/she will be required to prepare pricing estimates on new projects and estimate prices on change order on existing contracts, in a timely and professional matter. The specifications must be fully reviewed on each job and potential areas or risk/concern identified as well.
 
Requirements: Candidate needs current knowledge, or the ability to obtain knowledge, of FabTrol Systems, an integrated MPP software for the steel fabrication industry. This includes, but is not limited to, estimating, drawing management, material nesting and purchasing.  
Candidate should have experience estimating steel erection and fabrication work. Proficiency with reading and understanding drawings is a must. Experience with both structural steel and varying types of weld procedures is a plus. Candidate should have a good understanding of fabrication and erection processes and the costs associated with operations.
Furthermore it is essential that the candidate can read and understand job bid instructions, detailed specifications, and prepare a “take off” of materials included in the job. In addition, be able to estimate all necessary labor, materials, buyout items, and equipment costs to prepare a thorough estimate.
